Hog Roast Childwall Stepped Into The Nineties For A Themed 30th Birthday Bash

The Hog Roast Childwall team had an absolutely brilliant time last weekend! We had been asked to cater for Christine’s 30th birthday, which saw a hundred guests descend on the birthday girl’s local watering hole for a nineties themed bash!

All of those invited to join in the celebrations had been asked to wear traditional 1990s attire, and taking the request very seriously, guests arrived at the venue sporting velour tracksuits, jazzy windbreakers, denim flares and spaghetti strap dresses. Some even turned up dressed as iconic 90s characters and celebs, like Cher from Clueless, the Spice Girls and, of course, the Friends gang. The party was like a time warp, and everyone loved the theme that Christine had chosen, which allowed many of them to relive their childhood and teen years.

Hog Roast Childwall Hog Roast Childwall’s role in all of this was to keep the time travellers well-fed, and to do that, our crew spent the five hours leading up to the party working on a mouth-watering feast that featured popular dishes from our Southern Slow Roast Menu. The client had asked for this menu specially, as she loved the idea of being able to offer her guests a variety of different meat and side options to choose from, not to mention the veggie/vegan alternative that suited the needs of her 13 non-meat-eating guests perfectly.

In the end, the buffet, which was heavily inspired by authentic dishes from America’s Deep South, offered guests the opportunity to indulge in flavour-bursting Cajun-spiced whole roast chicken, fall off the bone Louisiana sticky pork ribs and BBQ pork butt, each of which had been pre-marinated in our secret recipe rubs before cooking. For sides, Hog Roast Childwall served Memphis style crunchy coleslaw, corn on the cobbs dripping with warm melted butter, potato salad and a mixture of sweet potato and regular fries. The non-meat-eaters were offered hickory-steeped pulled jackfruit served on a bun with crunchy vegan slaw.

Christine was over the moon with the spread that our catering manager, Sam, delivered, and couldn’t thank the Hog Roast Childwall crew enough for making her big birthday such a spectacular experience.
